What did you want to be when you grew up?
A secetary like Della Street from Perry Mason.  She was so smart and efficient, and I wanted her killer wardrobe.

What were your favorite cartoons?

My hero Penelope Pitstop

Scooby Doo, SchoolHouse Rock, Wacky Races, The Perils of Penelope Pitstop, Rocky & Bullwinkle, Underdog, Pink Panther, Top Cat, Captain Caveman and the Teen Angels, The Jetsons, Eek! The Cat, Muppet Babies, Danger Mouse, Inspector Gadget, Tex Avery creations, and Beetlejuice.

I'll still watch cartoons if given the chance.  My favorites now are The Venture Brothers ,Teen Titans, and Making Fiends.

Favorite childhood game?
Make-Believe. I loved making up stories for me and my friends to act out.

Most favorite Birthday?
I'm told, from an early age, I drove everyone near mad with demands for all things Wizard of Oz and Dorothy related. It only came on TV once a year and this was a major event for me! For my fifth birthday my parents threw me a Wizard of Oz themed birthday party. My mom even found a Dorothy dress for me to wear. I was thrilled. No red sparkly shoes though, I didn't see those for sale until I was much older and my obsession was long past.

Something you have always wanted to do, but haven't done yet?
So, so many things it's embarrassing! I'd like to learn to drive and roller skate.  I must have a deep seeded fear of wheels or something!

What was your first love?
Drawing

First musical idol?
Alannah Currie of the Thompson Twins.

Favorite gift?
An Amazon or iTunes gift card.
If a theme song played for you everywhere you went, what would it be?
I want to say "The Imperial March" but that's already Darth Vader's theme song, it is rather grand but a bit too imposing for my needs.  Hmmm what about Wallflower by Switchblade Symphony? That'll work!

Favorite city to visit?
I like going to Berkeley. It's home to my favorite fabric store Stonemountain and Daughter Fabrics, they have the most amazing button selection ever! The flea market at Ashby station is rad too.

On a side note: I apologize for my semi abandoned blog! I haven't been feeling up to posting much due to some oogieness in various areas in my life right now. So receiving this blog award cheered me up lots!
I'm off to investigate whether some of my favorite cartoons are on availble on DVD...

Nocturnal Madness

I cannot sleep! This is nothing new. I am nocturnal, but tomorrow I may get to hang out with my cousin's wife who's awesome so I wanted to sleep for a change. Sleep is not going to happen any time soon so have some pretty pictures from Saturday won't you?

Yay October!

Okay I know the month is winding to an end at this point, but I'm still pretty excited about it :D

Journal Prompt:  Come up with 4-6 simple, accomplishable goals for the month of October.  Keep them specific and fun! xo

My page:

I very much enjoyed making this page! (and yes I would freak all the way out if I saw a spider anything even close to that one!)

It's been years since I read the Harry Potter series from the beginning. The wizarding world of Hogwarts makes lovely fall reading. I love reading Neil Gaiman's work all year round, The Graveyard Book or/and Coraline are so perfect for this month!

More pages soon! (sooner than a month hopefully!)

Fall and Food!

Breaking up this page dump cause it's A LOT for one post. On to fall food faves!

Journal Prompt:  What is your favorite meal type/appetizer recipe?

My Page:

I found this recipe on The Black Apple's blog, Inside A Black Apple (who found it via Martha Stewart) way back in 2008. It's since become fall staple in the wickedsnicket household, as it features two of my favorite vegetables (parsnips and brussel sprouts) I even made this when my supermarket was out of all manner of butternut squash once. Still yummy.

If you use veggie crumbles and vegetable stock instead of sausage and chicken stock, as Black Apple suggests, it makes a very good vegetarian fall stew as well!

Journal Prompt:  What is your favorite fall drink??

My page:

I always look forward to pumpkin flavored (well anything really)
smoothies this time of year, so much so that I decided to try making my own!  These were more like a desert than a drink.

Journal Prompt:  What is your favorite Fall Sweet Treat Recipe?

My Page:

I haven't made these yet, but I will soon! <3
.....and are you ready for BONUS PAGE!! ;)
Journal Prompt:  What is your favorite Fall Sweet Treat Recipe? (Part II)

My Page:
There was a lot of talk on one of the chats about sugar skulls, so when I found this recipe in BUST magazine on how to make edible ones I wanted to share it! I think these would be fun to make and great for a party.

I'd also to like to make some real sugar skulls to honor my lost loved ones this year.

Fall and the Senses

It's been way, way too long since I've posted pages! I've been trying to work through a bought of being uninspired and unhappiness with some of my pages. What I love about this class is that there are so many people that motivate me through their awesomeness to continue despite my doubts about my work!

Journal Prompt:  The colors of Fall.  What do they look like where you are from?  Which colors stick out, which colors amaze you?  Document it :)

My page:

This page was sooooo hard for me. Why? I have NO IDEA! :) I do like the leaves I found for this page. I'm wanting to make a leave collection book of some kind this year.

Journal Prompt:  The lovely smells of fall!  What are some smells that trigger memories of fall for you??

My page:

I got that ribbon at a Renfaire. I used to go to them every fall and dress up and everything! *waves nerd card*

Journal Prompt: The tastes of fall.  What tastes do you think of when you dream about the upcoming season?  Are their certain things that you wait all year for?  I know I do!!

My page:

Nothing to see here...possible do-over!

Journal Prompt:  The sounds of fall!  When you think of fall, what are some sounds that you think of?  I always think of the way the leafs crunch beneath my boots or the sounds of my family laughing and chatting over holiday meals :)

My page:

Yay, Sounds of Fall!  This was the first page in a long time that liked the results of. The Wise Owl card held some really pretty hair clips I bought at my first Renegade Craft Fair and the sparrow at the top was a gift that came with a Mama's Little Babies purchase.

Chameleons Vox Show

I haven't been to a show in forever. Thanks to the everso rad Miss Cuppy who blogged about going to see the Chameleons I was able to end my no-show streak. They are definitely a band I didn't think I'd get to see live and wanted to.

The club was packed and VERY HOT, thanks in part to a mini heat wave that plagued us this week. San Francisco is always ill prepared for warmer weather but thankfully the club had a few fans going. Mark came out wearing a T-Rex tank top and a kilt! *whistles* They opened with Swamp Thing and closed with Second Skin. They then encored with Don't Fall! (upon which I geeked all the way out because that's one of my favorite songs) Mark was so amazing, a more affable front man I have yet to see. He even got off stage and danced with the crowd a bit. Utter coolness!

Silly random show note: I felt short and I'm 5'9''! There were lots of tall guys there :D

It was an awesome night!
